AUTUMN
Autumn:
Dorothy says, "Autumn is nature's crown jewel!
It's
golden glory is one of God's great gifts. In Lancaster County, stone and
covered bridges, horses and wagons and the culture of bygone times are
common place. There are many historic places to be seen and enjoyed. This
includes the little Smithton Inn, which has been family operated for 236
years. Our classic Dutch hospitality takes lots of time and attention.
Fortunately, the Pennsylvania Dutch are my people. I was born only a mile
from the Inn." Smithton itself is a historic site, that took over 20 years
to restore, and all done with hand tools.
Now it has all the modern amenities,
and a very special selection of period furnishings. The Smithton is also
fun. It is the home of Peter Rabbit in the back garden..
Smithton Gardens are furnished with settees, chairs, & tables. Smithton's award
winning dahlia gardens make a big splash in Summer and Fall. In Winter
it is cozy, as every room has a working fireplace. Feather beds are available
upon request, and all rooms can be candle lit. There are night shirts to
wear, and oil lamps in the windows. There are so many little amenities,
we can't remember to list them all.
