SUMMER
It
is quite a thing to visit an almost magical rural land where there
is
low crime, few youth problems, & less of the things that plague our
world. A place where people occasionally plant flowers along the borders
of their fields, just for purdy. A place that is a city of
tiny farms, of woods, of streams, of covered bridges, of small country
lanes, where farmers still use horses. Why ? because the Pennsylvania Dutch
wish to please God, and themselves; to love one another, and to be happy.
"Summer", Dorothy says, "is such a paradox of lazy days, where one can
lay on a hillside and stare at the sky and relive childhood, and long hours
of hard work. The Smithton Inn is small enough to be able to help every
guest fulfill their expectations, be it only to stroll down a crooked country
lane".
