Ephrata Fair and Antique Extravaganza Weekend – Fun Times for All

September 5, 2012

Ephrata Fair:  September 25 – 29, 2013

The largest street fair in Pennsylvania is celebrating its 94th year of hosting fantastic family fun in downtown Ephrata with this year’s Ephrata Fair.

If you love food, rides, people watching, local crafts, farm animal contests, parades, pig chases, tractor pulls, live music… oh, and seriously good FOOD… then this is the place for you.

Highlights from the week include: (full schedule)
  • Monday:  Registration day for all the fair participants.  It’s fun to watch the hustle & bustle of set up.
  • Tuesday:  Everything opens up!  All –you-can-ride special, plus two of my favorite events are held:  Antique Tractor Games and Rooster/Pig Chase.
  • Wednesday:  Parade day!!!!  ’nuff said.
  • Thursday:  Kid’s day (school is out!), plus the Tug-o-war.
  • Friday:  Family Pedal Tractor Pull & Moot Davis at the Ephrata Main Theater
  • Saturday:  Quoits Tournament!!!  OK – since I’m not FROM here, I actually had to look this one up!  Definitely a good way to round out the week!  (http://quoitpits.com/apwire/apwire.html)  The Midway closes down at 11:00 pm.
The Historic Smithton Inn has a few rooms left during the week of the fair, we’re already full for the weekend.  One advantage of our location is that we’ve got easy access to the fair, but we’re outside the road closure zone and have terrific off-street parking.

Fall Extravaganza Weekend:  September 27 – 30, 2013

Antique Extravaganza weekends are always a big deal in Adamstown, PA… a 7-mile long concentration of Antique Shops just a few miles north of the Historic SmithtonInn.  While most of the shops and vendors are open year-round, they pull out all the stops on Extravaganza weekends, with longer hours, special pricing and even more dealers than usual.  One of the particular advantages of the FALL Extravaganza weekend is that the weather is typically fantastic, making the hunt for antique treasures you can’t live without even more fun than normal.

The Historic Smithton Inn is a short drive to the Adamstown shops, plus we have maps and directions to other favorite Antique shops throughout Lancaster County.
