The
sixteenth annual Celtic Fling & Highland Games will bring lots of merriment to the Shire on June 28 – 29, 2014. If you haven’t experienced this event, I encourage you to put it on your calendar this year. The frivolity is just a short and easy half-hour drive from the
Historic Smithton Inn.
From traditional and modern Celtic music to mouth-watering Celtic cuisine to Swashbuckler ales and much more, the fling brings fun and a taste of centuries-old cultures and their traditions.
Here’s just a short list of what you’ll find as you celebrate the heritage of the Irish, Scots Welsh, Cornish, Manx, Bretons, and Galecians/Asturians at this year’s Celtic Fling:
- Musical performances (including Gaelic Storm and Albannach)
- Competitions (including Men’s Best Legs in a Kilt contest!)
- Irish dancers
- Celtic Pipe Bands
- Clans and Celtic Societies
- Sports demonstrations (including hurling and rugby)
- Merchants with Celtic wares and crafts for sale
- Celtic cuisine (including Scotch eggs, cheeses, mead, and more)
Plus there’s a Friday Night Concert to kick off the weekend’s festivities!
Single-day tickets for the Celtic Fling are available at the gate for $26.95, but
you can purchase them in advance online for $23.95. Children’s tickets are $10.95.
You can save by buying a two-day pass (valid for Saturday and Sunday).
They’re available online only, and the cost is $35 for Adults and $15 for Children.
