If you’re wondering, fall is pretty much the peak travel season in Lancaster PA. Why? Well, the weather tends to be awesome (not too hot, not too cold), it doesn’t rain much during our autumn months, there are LOTS of fall festivals & special events. Plus it’s fun to see our Amish farmers harvesting their fields & selling the last of their fresh produce & flowers at their farm stands.
For anyone who’s been to Lancaster in the fall, they know to book early to reserve a room, especially if they’re traveling on a weekend. It’s not unusual for every weekend to be fully booked at a local B&B by late August, early September!

Lancaster Fairs are a wonderful tradition and whether you’re lucky enough to be visiting when one is taking place or you’ve planned your trip to coincide with a fair, you’re in for some old-time local fun. If you’re wondering what our fairs are like, they include rides, arcade games, entertainment, a farm show, competitions and TONS of insanely unhealthy (but incredibly delicious) food!!

Tackling one of our local corn mazes is a great way to spend a sunny fall day in Lancaster PA! Lancaster Liederkranz is a German Cultural Club in the county whose members organize several events throughout the year. As you can imagine, Oktoberfest is their crown jewel and not to be missed! CLICK HERE for details and what to expect.
Lancaster wineries, breweries and distilleries are fun to visit all year round, but there’s just something about fall that makes them even more special. Sign up to volunteer at a winery where you can help harvest grapes! Try out the unique ways breweries & distilleries manage to infuse pumpkin spice into their delicious products. Lancaster PA at ground level is pretty amazing, but seeing it from above? SPECTACULAR! Plus, during this annual event it won’t be just one hot air balloon soaring, there will be TONS of them! In addition, you’ll find food, live music, games and other special events for you and your family to enjoy!

As the temperatures drop, the wolves become more and more active, making fall the perfect time to visit and tour the PA Wolf Sanctuary. Be sure to book your tour ahead of time because spots sell out at this popular event. And if you’re a night-owl yourself, consider attending one of their Full Moon Bonfire events. Of course you can pretty much find Apple / Pumpkin Spice & Autumn-themed items all over Lancaster County during the fall months, but there’s one particular spot where you can walk between businesses and get a really great assortment of items all themed for the fall months. Head over to the REO Manheim Marketplace where you can try assorted coffees, sweets, ice creams, ales & gifts that fit the season. There are plenty of other items to eat, drink and buy as well, so carve out some time & enjoy the experience!! NOTE: There’s even AXE THROWING at Artiface Ales & Meads!
